Press the handle again to lock it down for compact storage. For extra reach, a fork can be inserted into the handle. The feet on the Steamer fold for storage and open up to 1¾" so plenty of water can be used for steaming. Simply unscrew the handle when the entire basket is needed for steaming large items like fish fillets.

1. I would have given 5 stars if not for the unnecessarily long legs - 1.75"! Water level at 3/4 to 1 inch is usually more than enough for me to steam vegetables. The extra clearance from shorter legs would allow me to use this steamer in more pots.
2. base diameter measures 6.75"; 10.5" in diameter with leaves fully open
3. 2.5" tall with FOLDABLE legs closed, without center post and leaves closed completely; 3" tall with collapsed post
4. 4.25" tall with legs open, without post and leaves standing straight up; 5" with center post
5. Pop-up center post is all stainless except for the plastic grip at the top. This is great b/c I don't like plastic to touch my food. However, I don't need it so I just unscrewed it and put it away. Post is 2.5" collapsed and 4.5" extended.
6. Otherwise, it works and feels like the other similar steamers.
